Miami University partners with The Christ Hospital Health Network and Northeast Ohio Medical University

The goal of the partnership is to enhance training and education for future healthcare providers as well as increase access to quality medical care for area residents.

Miami University has joined an initiative between Northeast Ohio Medical University and The Christ Hospital Health Network that seeks to enhance the quality of healthcare training and education and lead to more accessible healthcare for area residents. The partnership will involve clinical rotation opportunities at Christ Hospital locations for Northeast Ohio Medical University students and an early assurance program for Miami University students who wish to attend NEOMED’s College of Medicine.

According to an article on Miami University’s website, Gregory Crawford, president of the university, is quoted as saying of the new initiatives, “This exciting collaboration allows us to offer our students greater options in regards to advanced healthcare education, which will benefit overall health and wellness in the state of Ohio for years to come. Our students, faculty, and staff understand the crucial importance of developing future healthcare professionals, and this innovative partnership is an immensely positive step in that direction.”

Beginning in July 2026, expanded clinical rotation opportunities will be put in place for NEOMED students at Christ Hospital locations around southwest Ohio. In addition to the increased clinical opportunities, more aspiring medical students will have the opportunity to move forward with their studies through an assurance program for Miami University students who wish to study in NEOMED’s College of Medicine. These two initiatives will ensure there are more qualified healthcare providers in the area to help combat the region’s shortage of accessible healthcare.

Debbie Hayes, who serves as the President & CEO of The Christ Hospital Health Network, said, “We are excited to announce this partnership for medical students in southwest Ohio. One of the challenges facing healthcare is addressing the need for quality healthcare providers. By partnering with NEOMED and Miami University, two well-established organizations, these future physicians will have a place to learn and grow while we keep these talented providers here in the Greater Cincinnati region. This is an investment not just in our medical students but the health of our community for decades into the future.”
