Pathways to More is a dual-admission and transfer program that gives students the opportunity to earn an associate degree from any of the 16 colleges in the Kentucky Community and Technical College System and a bachelor degree from Thomas More University.
Thomas More University and the Kentucky Community Technical College System have partnered for the Pathways to More program, a dual-admission and transfer program that will make it more affordable and easier for students to earn an associate degree and a bachelor degree through a seamless transfer opportunity. The partnership is the first of its kind for the Kentucky Community Technical College System.
According to an article on Thomas More University’s website, Dr. Phil Neal, who serves as the Vice President and Provost of the Kentucky Community and Technical College System, was quoted as saying of the partnership, “KCTCS is pleased to expand our transfer partnership with Thomas More University, providing even greater opportunities for student success. This renewed collaboration enhances clear transfer pathways, concurrent admission, and a seamless transition to Thomas More after earning an associate degree. We value Thomas More’s continued partnership and shared commitment to helping KCTCS students reach their goals.”
The Pathways to More program, according to the webpage for the program, includes pathways for the following degrees: Business Administration AA to BABA, Business Administration AA to BBA, Criminal Justice AA to BA, Elementary Education AA to BA, Elementary Education AAS to BA, Nursing AAS to RN to BSN, Organizational Leadership AA to BA, and Psychology AA to BA. Some of these programs are available only as traditional, in-person programs and some are available as online accelerated programs, with a few having both options available to students. More pathway program options are planned to be launched in the future.
The Pathways to More program offers benefits to participants that will make earning a bachelor degree more streamlined. Students who are enrolled at a KCTCS college will have early access to offerings from Thomas More University, like advising and campus events, as they will be enrolled as a non-degree seeking student at the university while they are pursuing their associate degree through KCTCS. This also allows students to take four Thomas More University courses at the same rate they pay for their KCTCS courses, giving them early access to the university coursework as well as cutting down on the cost of a bachelor degree. Students participating in the program will receive guaranteed admission to the university after they complete their KCTCS associate degree.
Participants will also receive a $4,000 transfer scholarship for Thomas More University, and transfer students will also be eligible to apply for other scholarships and grants to make their bachelor degree more affordable. Both institutions will support students through advising and a transfer coordinator.
Thomas More University President Joseph L. Chillo, LP.D., said of the partnership, “Pathways to More breaks down barriers by easing the transfer process and ensuring students have a clear and supportive path to a Catholic liberal arts education. We are proud to partner with KCTCS to empower more students to achieve their academic and personal goals with confidence and clarity.”
