The new online hybrid program will begin in the Spring 2026 semester and will give students the opportunity to earn both an associate and a bachelor degree in nursing in just three years.
Trevecca Nazarene University is introducing its Accelerated Nursing Pathways initiative with the Spring 2026 semester that will allow students to earn both an associate degree and a bachelor degree in nursing within three years. The Accelerated Nursing Pathways program will be an online hybrid opportunity for working adults to become registered nurses with a shorter timeline from school and training to career than a traditional nursing program. The university’s traditional bachelor of science of nursing program just graduated its first cohort of students in 2025.
According to an article on Trevecca Nazarene University’s website, Dr. Ruth Corey, the university’s director of nursing, was quoted as saying of the new pathway, “This program is designed to make nursing education more accessible for working adults, career changers and those called to healthcare service. Students will leave prepared to provide excellent patient care and grow into leadership roles in today’s healthcare system.”
The curriculum of the accelerated program is based upon the curriculum of the traditional nursing program and includes hands-on clinical experiences with healthcare organizations partnered with the university, including Ascension Saint Thomas. Students will study leadership, critical care, community health, and research, as well as general education courses and foundational science courses.
Within the accelerated program, students will first earn an associate degree in nursing, after which they will be prepared to take the NCLEX exam and become a licensed Registered Nurse in the state of Tennessee. Then, they can continue their education to earn their bachelor of science degree.
Students interested in the opportunity can attend a virtual information session ahead of the Spring 2026 semester.
