The schools have formed an agreement that will allow Ivy Tech Community College graduates from more than 20 different programs the ability to transfer to Manchester University with a junior standing.
Ivy Tech Community College and Manchester University have formed a partnership to create seamless transfer pathways for graduates from more than 20 different Ivy Tech programs. The goal of the partnership is to make earning a bachelor degree more affordable and more attainable for students.
According to an article on Ivy Tech Community College’s website, Manchester University's President Dr. Stacy Young explained the origins of the partnership. She is quoted as saying, “We dreamt this up about a year ago realizing we have so many students coming in with early college credits from Ivy Tech. We know there are students all across this region and the state with Ivy Tech credentials, and we are very excited to add [this partnership] at Manchester University.”
Per the agreement, specific transfer pathways have been mapped out for more than 20 of Ivy Tech Community College’s programs. The goal was to ensure that Ivy Tech grads could earn a bachelor degree from Manchester University in no more than 60 credits. These associate degree level programs of study include fine arts, arts, general studies, and science. Students who graduated from Ivy Tech with associate degrees in other areas may still take advantage of the partnership and seamlessly transfer to the university, but they may need to take more than 60 credits in order to complete their bachelor degree.
Dr. Sue Ellespermann, the president of Ivy Tech Community College, remarked at the June 25 event to celebrate the partnership, “Ivy Tech embraces a dual mission, certainly to serve Indiana’s workforce, but we also are here to provide seamless, affordable associate to bachelor’s programs. By enabling Ivy Tech grads to transfer to Manchester University with junior standing, we are helping students accelerate their journey to a four-year degree.”
