Kent State University forms dual degree partnership with Bennett University in India

The dual degree partnership is the result of a Memorandum of Agreement that the two universities signed back in December of 2022.

Kent State University has formed a dual degree partnership with India’s Bennett University. The 2+2 Dual Degree Program in Fashion Design will have participating students earn both a bachelor's degree in Fashion Design from Bennett University and a Bachelor of Arts in Fashion Design from Kent State University following spending two years studying at each university.

According to an article on Kent State University's website, Marcello Fantoni, who serves as the university’s vice president for global education, was quoted as saying, "This partnership represents Kent State's ongoing commitment to global education and creating pathways for international students to access our world-class fashion design program. By combining the strengths of both institutions, we're offering students a truly international perspective on fashion design that will prepare them for careers in the global industry."

While the specifics of the dual degree partnership are still being determined and will formally be spelled out in a future Articulation Transfer Pathway Completion Agreement, the program will see students participating in the unique opportunity of studying fashion on two continents and receiving an education in both Western and Eastern fashion philosophies. This global outlook will give students an insight into business practices and the opportunity to network within different countries.

Mourad Krifa, Ph.D., the Margaret Clark Morgan Director of the School of Fashion Design and Merchandising, said, "Fashion is inherently global, and this dual degree program reflects the reality of today's interconnected industry. Our students will now have the opportunity to immerse themselves in diverse cultural perspectives on design, preparing them to become innovative leaders in the international fashion landscape."
