The partnership will establish a nursing scholarship and a program to provide nursing students with job opportunities with the organization.
Siena Heights University’s nursing program has formed a partnership with Pine Rest Christian Mental Health Services. The partnership will give nursing students the opportunity to participate in the organization’s Nursing Student Academy, as well as a new scholarship opportunity.
According to an article on Siena Heights University’s website, Dr. Gina Rossetti, who serves as the Provost and VP of Academic Affairs, was quoted as saying of the partnership, “This partnership with Pine Rest is a transformative opportunity for our nursing students. By combining rigorous academic training with real-world experience and financial support, we are empowering our students to become compassionate and highly skilled nurses who will make a significant impact in the field of mental health.”
The partnership seeks to grow the number of qualified mental health nurses in the state by providing students with benefits like financial assistance and an employment pathway after completing their program.
Pine Rest’s Nursing Student Academy provides participants with scholarships that can amount to up to $40,000. Additionally, students will gain clinical experience by working within Pine Rest facilities during the program, and will be mentored by mental health professionals and nurses. In exchange, students agree to working at a Pine Rest facility for two years once they have graduated and become licensed.
Dr. Gretchen Johnson, who serves as Pine Rest’s Chief Nurse Executive, said, “We are thrilled to partner with Siena Heights University to invest in the future of nursing. Our Nursing Student Academy provides a unique opportunity for students to gain specialized skills in mental health care, and we are committed to supporting their educational journey and providing them with fulfilling career opportunities at Pine Rest.”
Other schools that are participating in Pine Rest’s Nursing Student Academy include Baker College, Davenport University, Hope College, Montcalm Community College, and more.
