The donation comes after the wrap-up of SKYCTC’s Annual Giving Day. Service One Credit Union had announced that if the Annual Giving Day received at least 50 donations, it would donate $15,000.
Southcentral Kentucky Community and Technical College has received a $15,000 donation from Service One Credit Union in fulfillment of the credit union’s commitment to do so if the SKYCTC Annual Giving Day successfully received a gift from at least 50 donors. The funding received from Giving Day, including the donation from Service One Credit Union, will go toward scholarships and various services that help bolster student success.
According to an article on Southcentral Kentucky Community and Technical College’s website, Rebecca Stone, Service One Credit Union’s CEO, was quoted as saying, "For Service One Credit Union, supporting education – especially through our involvement with organizations like the SKYCTC Foundation – directly reflects our commitment to our community. We believe that education is essential for progress, and by investing in initiatives like this, we are fostering the development of our community’s future."
The funding received will go toward equipment for learning in specialized technical fields, scholarships, professional development opportunities, and hands-on experiences in various industries.
Heather Rogers, the Executive Director of SKYCTC Foundation, explained the outcome of this year’s Annual Giving Day. She said, “We had a successful Giving Day and exceeded the 50 Donor Challenge to ‘unlock’ the Service One Credit Union gift! We had 92 donors and raised over $24,300 in gifts to benefit our students through scholarships, programs and the Student Emergency Fund and Pathfinder Food Pantry.”
