Lake Superior State University Lukenda School of Business programs accreditation reaffirmed

The Accreditation Council for Business Schools and Programs Baccalaureate/Graduate Degree Board of Commissioners recently reaffirmed the accreditation of a number of programs at Lake Superior State University’s Lukenda School of Business.

Sault Ste. Marie, Michigan’s Lake Superior State University has had the accreditation of its Lukenda School of Business Programs reaffirmed by the Accreditation Council for Business Schools and Programs (or ACBSP) Baccalaureate/Graduate Degree Board of Commissioners.

The Accreditation Council for Business Schools and Programs has been around for over three decades and was the very first organization to offer specialized business accreditation to every degree level from associate, baccalaureate, and doctoral degree programs. Accreditation from the Council denotes that the learning and teaching functions continued within the business programs and degrees offered at Lake Superior State University meet a framework of rigorous education standards which have been set forth by the Accreditation Council for Business Schools and Programs.

Lake Superior State University’s Lukenda School of Business Programs was first accredited by the Council back in 2014 and since has had to go through the reaffirmation process once every ten years to be allowed to continue being accredited by the ACBSP. The programs at the University that are receiving reaffirmation are business administration programs that focus on Entrepreneurship, International Business, Marketing, and Management, as well as Accounting, Economics, and Finance. The ACBSP also used its process to look at the University’s general Business Administration and Cannabis Business bachelor degree programs.

In an article posted on Lake Superior State University’s website, Mindy McCready, who is serving as the Interim Dean of the College of Business, Engineering, Computer Science and Mathematics, was quoted about the accreditations, saying, “We are proud to receive reaffirmation of accreditation from ACBSP and initial accreditation of two new programs in recognition of continued excellence and dedication within our business programs. This reaffirmation reflects our ongoing commitment to providing a rigorous, high-quality education that equips our students with the skills and knowledge needed to thrive in today’s dynamic business environment.”

The ACBSP accreditation process is based off of the Baldrige Education Criteria for Performance Excellence and looks at various aspects of a program’s strategic planning, leadership, quality of academic programs, relationships with its stakeholders, faculty credentials, and educational experience, as well as the university’s ability to demonstrate a continuous ability to improve the quality of the programs.

Dr. Steve Parscale, who serves at ACBSP’s Chief Accreditation Officer, was quoted about the accreditation of LSSU, saying, “Lake Superior State University has shown its commitment to teaching excellence and to the process of quality improvement by participating in the accreditation process. This reaffirmation of accreditation is evidence that they are committed to maintaining the highest quality business education for their students for the next 10 years, just as they have done since 2014.”
