Midway University receives anonymous donation in support of new library

The anonymous donation totals $2 million and has brought the total amount raised for the project to $9.25 million, which is $750,000 short of the goal.

An anonymous donor has given Midway University $2 million to put toward its new library construction project. Thanks to this most recent donation, the project is nearing its $10 million goal, with only $750,000 left to go.

According to an article on Midway University’s website, Dr. John P. Marsden, the university’s president, was quoted as saying, “We are incredibly grateful for this anonymous donor’s generosity and belief in our vision. This gift brings us within reach of our fundraising goal and ensures that this project will get underway this summer. We plan to have the building completed by December 2026. Following construction of a new library, the existing library will be renovated to provide additional housing.”

The Midway University Library Campaign was put into motion to construct a new library and repurpose the old library as new student housing to support the ever-increasing enrollment numbers the university has been experiencing. The current library, the Little Memorial Library, was partially converted in 2023 to house 43 students, and when the rest of the current library is converted, it will house more students.

The new library, the James A. & Martha R. Brown Library, will be constructed as a modern library with additional community and learning spaces, including an esports arena, a cafe, classrooms, faculty offices, and computer labs.
