Goshen College forms partnership with Lippert for language classes

The educational partnership will see Goshen College providing language courses to Lippert employees.

Goshen College and Lippert, an Elkhart, Indiana-based supplier of components for equipment manufacturers, have formed an educational partnership that will give Lippert employees the chance to learn English as a second language or to learn Spanish as continuing education.

According to an article on Goshen College’s website, Matthew Jerlecki, who is the director of learning at Lippert, was quoted as saying of the partnership, “This partnership highlights Lippert’s commitment to growth, inclusion and enhancing communication within our teams. By investing in language learning, we’re building stronger relationships, improving teamwork and supporting personal development.”

There are approximately 30 Lippert employees who are currently studying English as a second language and about seven who are taking Spanish courses via the educational partnership, which officially began in January. The partnership seeks to provide three semesters each year to employees, with both English and Spanish courses offered.

Rocio Diaz, the director of community engagement and adult outreach at Goshen College, said of the partnership, “This partnership with Lippert is fantastic. It is inspiring to see the dedication of team members learning English right after their shifts. The team leaders studying Spanish are equally committed and go above and beyond.”

In addition to the courses offered to Lippert employees, Goshen College provides English and Spanish courses to the community at large, as non-credit, continuing education courses. Around 280 students from elsewhere in the community are participating in English and Spanish language classes at Goshen College.
