The partnership will allow students to dual-enroll at both institutions and earn their Bachelor of Science in Applied Health Science from Tiffin University at the same time they earn their Associate of Applied Science in Nursing from Terra State Community College.
Tiffin University and Terra State Community College have partnered for a Dual Degree Nursing Program that will give students the opportunity to earn two degrees at the same time: a Bachelor of Science in Applied Health Science from Tiffin University and an Associate of Applied Science in Nursing from Terra State Community College. Students will be able to leverage the resources of both institutions as they work their way through their education. A formal signing ceremony of the partnership agreement will take place on Friday, March 14 in the The Diane Kidd Gallery within the Hayes Center for the Arts at Tiffin University.
According to an article on Tiffin University’s website, Dr. Peter Holbrook, the Provost and Chief Operating Officer at Tiffin University, was quoted as saying of the partnership, “We are ecstatic to partner with Terra State Community College to offer this unique program. This collaboration reflects our commitment to developing innovative educational opportunities that meet workforce demands. By combining Tiffin University’s applied health science curriculum with Terra State’s hands-on nursing training, students will graduate equipped with the knowledge, skills and experience needed to thrive in their field.”
The Dual Degree Nursing Program has been designed for maximum student convenience, as the two institutions are less than 20 miles away from each other. The partnership entails that students will begin their journey with two years of courses at Tiffin University before moving on to a combination of coursework from each school. The program will make use of the simulation center and skills lab on Tiffin University’s campus, as well as healthcare facilities around the region for students to participate in hands-on learning experiences.
Dr. Lillian Schumacher, the president of Tiffin University, said, “We are extremely excited about this partnership opportunity. We have been working diligently to find a partner that best serves and supports our students’ interest in health care while still being able to maintain their campus collegiate life. We believe we have found the perfect balance through this partnership and look forward to our collaboration with Terra State Community College.”
