The partnership includes reduced tuition for Town of Greeneville employees and their dependents to attend Tusculum University and many opportunities for the town to take advantage of university resources.
Tusculum University and the Town of Greeneville have entered into a corporate partnership that will allow the town to provide professional development opportunities for its employees via a tuition reduction offer and access to other university resources. The partnership agreement was signed into effect on January 7.
According to an article on Tusculum University’s website, Dr. Scott Hummel, the university’s president, was quoted as saying of the agreement, “We value our relationship with the Town of Greeneville and appreciate all of the support it provides to the university. We welcome the opportunity to return the favor by providing further professional development opportunities and other types of learning from our outstanding faculty. This agreement incorporates additional resources from the university that can enhance the operations of the town government for the benefit of its citizens. We are excited about this initiative, which represents another example of our commitment to civic engagement.”
As per the terms of the agreement, employees of the Town of Greeneville and their dependents and spouses will receive a 10% tuition discount after enrolling at Tusculum University. The reduced tuition cost will make it more feasible for the town employees to gain additional skills and credentials to excel in their careers.
An additional benefit to the Town of Greeneville that arises via the partnership agreement is the ability to take advantage of other university resources, such as assistance from various related master’s degree cohorts, such as participating in an individualized corporate training program created by Master of Arts in organizational training and performance management students, or Master of Business Administration students who analyze businesses and organizations to help them figure out how to save money.
Greeneville Mayor Cal Doty said, “The Town of Greeneville is excited to partner with Tusculum University. This agreement gives our employees an excellent advantage to expand their knowledge, possibly leading to career promotions from within. I see it as a win-win for both organizations, and we appreciate Tusculum University’s contributions to our community.”
Tusculum University will similarly benefit from the partnership agreement, as the Town of Greeneville may serve as an entity providing internships to its students or as a potential future employer for its graduates.
