Siena Heights University introduces two new opportunities for adult learners

The new micro-credential and professional development programs will be offered online to support working adults seeking to enhance their skill sets.

Siena Heights University has two new opportunities for adult learners who are seeking to further their careers or gain additional skills: online microcredentials and professional development programs. The programs will take anywhere from 3-6 months to complete and there are a number of programs available, including cybersecurity, medical scribe, paralegal, teachers’ aide, and more.

According to an article on Siena Heights University’s website, Dr. Gina Rossetti, who serves as the university’s Provost and VP of Academic Affairs, was quoted as saying of these new opportunities, “We’re excited to get students of any age ready for the twenty-first century career landscape. These learning opportunities are offered at a time and pace that meets the needs of their busy lives.” She added, “We’re bringing together our mission’s focus on ‘assisting people to become more competent, purposeful, and ethical through a teaching and learning environment which respects the dignity of all’ with the needs of industry employers, allowing all to reach their highest potential.”

The online platform that Siena Heights University uses for these microcredentials and short-term certificate programs provides several options, ranging from teachers’ aide to cybersecurity to bookkeeping to medical coding. These skills and certifications can help adults already working in these fields to work toward promotions or moving jobs by gaining proficiency in highly sought after skills.

In addition to microcredentials and short-term certificate programs, Siena Heights University is now also offering professional development opportunities. These upskilling opportunities will give employers the chance to help their entire staff gain more knowledge on skills necessary for the employer to remain competitive in the market. The university offers onsite and offsite professional development for companies looking to help its employees learn a new technology, gain leadership skills, or meet standards for compliance purposes.

Mike Ayre, the retired Human Resources Director for Wacker Chemical, said of this option, “Siena Heights University is bringing much-needed training opportunities to Lenawee County to help upskill employees and leaders. Their simple process made my job much easier. The customized training was well received by our team.”
