Alma College launches new marketing program

The program will officially begin in the Fall 2025 semester, though interested students can get a head start on coursework for the major before then.

Alma College is launching a new Bachelor of Arts in Marketing degree with the Fall 2025 semester. The creation of a new, focused marketing degree program comes after the school revamped its business degree offerings in 2022. The new marketing program aims to connect students with instructors who have real-world marketing experience, give students a plethora of opportunities within small class sizes, and offer a variety of extracurriculars that will match students’ marketing ambitions.

According to an article on Alma College’s website, Andy Singer, who is a professor of business at the college, explained the thought process behind introducing the new program, and what benefits students will see from it. Singer is quoted as saying, “What we’ve tried to do is to create a program that will set students up, not only for a job, but to be a high-level leader in the fields of marketing and business. When complete, our students will have hands-on experience in creating, analyzing and implementing traditional and digital marketing campaigns. We’re really excited to roll out this new program to prospective students.” He added, “This program is a seamless fit for what we already offer at Alma College. Marketing is essentially one of those disciplines that requires an interdisciplinary skillset in order to be successful. That’s our bread and butter at Alma College — a liberal arts education that allows students to adapt and grow, based on changes in the industry.”

As part of the marketing program, students will engage in courses like branding, search engine optimization, digital marketing, and project management, among others. Students will also be required to complete an internship, which the school guarantees each student will have help in finding and setting up through the school’s Career and Personal Development Office.

To gain more optional experience in an extracurricular setting, the Business Professionals of America group may be of interest to students in the marketing program. Additionally, according to the marketing program’s webpage, students in a junior standing within the marketing program can join the Plaid Returns Alumni Mentoring Program, which pairs current students with an alumni working in the marketing field to serve as a valuable mentor throughout the rest of the program.
