The partnership allows anyone employed at Mercy Health to access a Clark State College education with deferred tuition payments to help lessen financial burdens.
Clark State College and Mercy Health have partnered to give anyone employed by Mercy Health, part-time or full-time, the opportunity to attend Clark State College while receiving the benefit of deferred tuition payments, allowing them to pursue more advanced degrees without the heavy burden of tuition payments until later in their journey.
According to an article on Clark State College’s website, Jo Alice Blondin, Ph.D., who serves as the president of Clark State College, said of the partnership, "Clark State is committed to strengthening the workforce through education and innovative solutions. By addressing financial challenges facing students, we equip them with the resources and skills necessary for both personal and professional growth. We are able to meet both student and community needs by making education accessible and cultivating a skilled health care workforce.”
The expected benefits of the deferred tuition program for Mercy Health employees include giving Mercy Health employees the ability to pursue a more advanced degree to get ahead in or change careers, boosting both enrollment numbers and retention rates for Clark State College, and promoting professional development for employees of Mercy Health.
The deferred tuition program is available to any employee of Mercy Health, and might be especially beneficial for any employee who is seeking to move into a clinical healthcare role within the organization, such as respiratory therapist, phlebotomist, or medical lab technician.
Scott Dolan, Ph.D., the dean of health, human, and public services at Clark State College, was quoted as saying, "Our partnership with Mercy is designed to increase access to higher education by allowing Clark State nursing students who work at Mercy Health to pursue advanced degrees and certifications while distributing tuition payments over an extended period of time. By lessening the financial burden, students can pursue their academic and career goals while managing educational costs more effectively.”
