American National University in Pikeville is partnering with Pikeville Medical Center in order to help Pikeville Medical Center employees earn a more affordable education via tuition reimbursement through the Business Partnership Grant program.

According to an article on American National University’s website, James Glass, who is Pikeville Medical Center’s Vice President of External Technical Instruction, said of the partnership, “We are excited to be working with American National University and their Business Partnership Grant Program in which qualified Pikeville Medical Center employees may potentially receive financial assistance and tuition credit. This program can help our employees work toward achieving their academic and career goals.  We look forward to the opportunities this program will provide our employees and the potential impact it may have on the healthcare of our region.”

The Business Partnership Grant program is intended to help employees of businesses partnered with American National University achieve their education goals more affordably than they otherwise would be able to do so. Pikeville Medical Center will contribute money toward their employees’ tuition at American National University, and for every $2 that they contribute, American National University will match with $1.

Donovan Blackburn, who is the president and CEO of Pikeville Medical Center, which is the only Level II trauma center in the state of Kentucky, shared his thoughts on the partnership: “Pikeville Medical Center’s Project HEART (Healthcare Employment around Regional Training) is helping to create obtainable career pathways in health care for the people in the region. Through continued partnerships and funding, Pikeville Medical Center has taken great strides in improving education and healthcare in Eastern Kentucky.”

American National University’s online programs and straightforward tuition pricing will make Pikeville Medical Center’s employees’ education journey simple and easy to fit around a busy work schedule.

“We are delighted for this partnership with Pikeville Medical Center. We will get the honor of educating these students to further develop their professional careers with Pikeville Medical Center,” said Frank Longaker, president of the university.
