Thomas More University to lend hand to entrepreneurship bootcamp for high school students

The camp, Inventure Entrepreneurship Academy, is a joint venture between Thomas More University, and Main Street Ventures.

Thomas More University will be hosting the third annual Inventure Entrepreneurship Academy this summer in partnership with Main Street Ventures, an organization which supports entrepreneurs and startups via funding and programming. The bootcamp is aimed at high school students who are interested in starting a business one day.

According to an article on Thomas More University’s website, Jeni Al Bahrani, who is the director of the Dr. Anthony ’65 and Geraldine ’66 Zembrodt Center for Entrepreneurship and Innovation and a professor of practice for the Robert W. Plaster College of Business, was quoted as saying, “At Thomas More University, innovation is not just a buzz word, it’s a mindset. At the ZCEI, our mission is to instruct and guide young minds through the intricacies of entrepreneurship. This is an exciting partnership that inspires and empowers the next generation of entrepreneurs in our community to pursue their dreams.”

The Inventure Entrepreneurship Academy will be a weeklong camp, beginning on June 24. It will be held within the 1819 Innovation Hub at the University of Cincinnati. Hamilton County high school students in ninth through 12th grades with an interest in entrepreneurship are welcome to attend the academy. Al Bahrani was heavily involved in creating the curriculum for the academy, which includes giving students lessons in leadership skills, marketing concepts, idea generation, financial management, and more. She will also teach one of the content modules during the academy.

Jazmine Mosby, who serves as the manager of special events and operations at Main Street Ventures, discussed the partnership and what it means for the Inventure Entrepreneurship Academy, saying, “By partnering with Thomas More University, Main Street Ventures will leverage the University’s academic expertise to develop a curriculum tailored to the unique needs and aspirations of high school students interested in entrepreneurship. Partnerships like these are a vital part of ensuring we can provide the necessary foundation and support to ensure success for tomorrow’s business leaders.”
