Saint Mary-of-the-Woods College partners with Ascend Indiana
Ascend Indiana is an online resource that helps connect job seekers in Indiana with Indiana employers who are seeking job candidates.
Saint Mary-of-the-Woods College has formed a partnership with Ascend Indiana to provide its students with additional resources for finding careers in Indiana upon graduation. Ascend Indiana is a job matching platform that matches students based on their skills and their interests to relevant job openings in the state.
According to an article on Saint Mary-of-the-Woods College’s website, Martha Reed, who is the interim director of the Career Center at the school, discussed what benefits will be seen from this partnership, saying, “We are excited about this partnership with Ascend Indiana and the possibilities that it presents to SMWC and particularly to our students. With such an extensive network available, it elevates the College’s ability to provide connections to students and graduates for internships and job opportunities.”
Ascend Indiana can help students find both jobs and internships for free. The partnership with Saint Mary-of-the-Woods College will give students the additional benefit of the online platform as well as career guidance and support services. The goal is to provide students opportunities to find local careers that will keep them in the state and offer them the type of career they have been looking for. While students will receive support from Ascend Indiana, they will also continue receiving support and education resources from the Career Center at Saint Mary-of-the-Woods.
Brad Rhorer, who is the president and CEO Ascend Indiana, said of the partnership, “Connecting college students to available internships and jobs here in Indiana is essential to helping employers find the talent they need. Making sure that students are equipped with the necessary tools and one-on-one support to jump-start their internship and job searches is the foundation of the partnership between Ascend and Saint Mary-of-the-Woods College.”
Since 2017, Ascend Indiana has helped connect more than 5,000 people with careers in the state. It has 750 employers using the network to fill positions currently.
