The Logan County Board of Education has approved twenty two courses for dual credit in the 2022-23 school year. These classes are free to high school students and will be held through Marshall University and Southern West Virginia Community and Technical College.

West Virginia Junior college and Greenbrier Valley Medical Center have teamed up to create an accelerated online nursing program to help fight the healthcare worker shortage and health disparities in rural communities.

Belinda Anderson will be holding a class on writing one's life story at New River Community and Technical College during the fall semester. Students will learn to mine their memories and use journalistic techniques to write an engrossing work based on their experiences.

At its June 16 meeting, the Tennessee Board of Regents voted to freeze tuition for all Tennessee community colleges. Tuition costs will not increase even with rising inflation to make it easier for students to choose to continue their education.

The Dickson and Clarksville campuses of The Tennessee College of Applied Technology have received a $1 million Perkins READI Grant through the Tennessee Board of Regents and the Federal Perkins Grant Program. The money will be used to book career and technical education programs.

Roane State Community College has named Aaron Jones, former principal at Wartburg Central High School, as the director of the Middle College program.

As part of Tennessee’s 2022-23 budget, just over $34 million has been set aside for an expansion and renovation to Nashville State Community College’s Clarksville campus.

U.S. News and World Report, an organization that ranks schools based on various criteria, ranked Ohio University number one in the state and number 14 in the country for graduates working in primary care positions. ED Ken Johnson, D.O. noted that the school has jumped 26 spots in the past four years.

The application deadline to apply for the Registered Nursing program at Kent State University at Ashtabula for the Fall 2022 semester has been extended to June 1. Registered Nurses are in high demand all over the country, with high job growth expected over the next decade.

After long serving in various roles at Wilmington College, Dr. Erika Goodwin will be named Vice President of Academic Affairs at Southern State Community College as the current VP, Dr. Nicole Roades, is named President of SSCC. Dr. Goodwin’s first day will be June 1, 2022.
