The Nursing program at Lipscomb University prepares students to undertake a Christ-centered education in becoming a high-quality nurse. The school has a simulation lab which helps students "practice before you practice." The partnership will begin in the Fall 2025 semester and will see participants earning a Master of Arts in Teaching from Lipscomb University and receiving the benefits of the Memphis Teacher Residency program.
The grant comes on the heels of a partnership between Lipscomb University’s School of Nursing and Ascension St. Thomas Midtown, established in 2023, designed to address nursing education and staffing needs.
Participants in the teacher education pathway will receive a teaching license as well as a master’s degree, and then will become an educator in one of the Metro Nashville Public School district’s high-need areas.
The grant will allow Lipscomb University to host a conference on the subject of best practices for providing support to students in the military.
The Turner Family Distinguished Visiting Professor of Public Policy and the Bill and Crissy Haslam Endowed Distinguished Visiting Professor of Faith and Reason were both established at the school this summer and are the result of gifts from family foundations.
The grant, which is in the amount of $12,000, will help develop a capstone course through the Center for Vocational Discovery.
The program is available to students who already have a bachelor degree or higher in any field and will allow students to complete a Bachelor of Science in Nursing degree in as little as 16 months thanks to its hybrid format.
Students were able to staff, photograph, and perform at the Dove Awards that aired worldwide on October 20.
Lipscomb University’s Clinical Mental Health Counseling program has received a $1.65 million grant from the Health Resources Administration. The money will fund training programs for healthcare and behavioral health workers.
