TCAT Dickson's 12-month Dental Assisting program aims to prepare students to be a vital member of a dental office. Students will study anatomy, oral pathology, and dental specialties. During the third semester of the program, students will complete a clinical externship at a local dental facility.
The Practical Nursing program at TCAT Dickson offers students the opportunity to earn a nursing assistant certificate as well as a practical nursing diploma. Students will learn pharmacology, obstetrics, and pediatric nursing. The program will also include a supervised clinical experience.
Students in the 1-year Pharmacy Technology program at TCAT Dickson will learn the skills necessary for entry-level pharmacy technician positions. Among the skills students will learn are anatomy and physiology, medical terminology, and pharmacy math. Students who complete the program may take the Pharmacy Technician Certification Exam (PTCE).
The 12-month Administrative Office Technology - Medical Coding program at TCAT Dickson instructs students in the essential skills necessary for working in an office environment. Students will learn medical coding, file management, and problem solving skills.
The grant comes from the Tennessee Department of Labor and Workforce Development and will allow the school to offer additional certifications and provide students in healthcare programs with financial assistance.
The Dickson and Clarksville campuses of The Tennessee College of Applied Technology have received a $1 million Perkins READI Grant through the Tennessee Board of Regents and the Federal Perkins Grant Program. The money will be used to book career and technical education programs.
