Choffin Career and Technical Center offers a Dental Assisting program that aims to prepare students for a career as an entry-level dental assistant. The school has an in-house dental clinic that trains students in a real-life setting. Students will learn microbiology, radiology, and chairside procedures. While in the program, students will take three portions of the Dental Assisting National Board exam.
Students in the Choffin Career and Technical Center Practical Nursing program will prepare students to play an important role on a healthcare team. Students will learn to take vital signs, take lab specimens, and administer IVs. The program includes both classroom work and clinical experiences. Upon completing the program, students can take the NCLEX-PN exam.
Four groups joined the live-burn exercise coordinated by the Brookfield Fire Department. Students were working on qualifying for a state firefighter certification, while some instructors were working toward training certifications.
In early February 2021, a vaccine clinic was held in the gymnasium of Chaney High School and around 30 nursing students participated in the event aimed at providing the vaccine to area educators.
