Medical Assistant
The Medical Assistant program prepares students to perform a variety of administrative and clinical skills in ambulatory care settings. Kirtland's Medical Assistant program provides classroom, skills laboratory and internship instruction to prepare students to take the AMT RMA and RPT certification examinations upon successful course completion.
Medical Billing & Coding
The Medical Billing and Coding program provides the career education necessary to be proficient in completing insurance claims. Students learn billing and collection techniques and become proficient in assigning procedural and diagnostic codes.
Nursing
The Associate in Applied Science in nursing program is designed to prepare students for entry-level positions as registered nurses. Following successful completion of the ADN program, graduates are eligible to take the license exam to practice as a Registered Nurse (RN). Each class of nursing students is considered a cohort (group) and courses/schedules are assigned. Graduates of the ADN program are qualified to enter the many BSN completion programs available.
Recent news about Kirtland Community College
The partnership is an apprenticeship program that gives students paid work opportunities at Munson Healthcare facilities while still in school.
Public Act 103 of 2023 allocated $32.8 million to 22 community colleges throughout the state to enhance campuses under the categories of infrastructure, technology, equipment, maintenance, and safety.
The partnership between Kirtland Community College and Saginaw Valley State University has expanded to allow for more staff and facilities, making the path from Associate Degree in Nursing to Bachelor of Science in Nursing easier for students.
The designation from the U.S. Department of Labor will allow Kirtland Community College to help local businesses fill gaps in the workforce by creating customized apprenticeship programs.
Students enrolled in the nursing program at Kirtland Community College will gain access to more clinical sites with the new accreditation granted by National League for Nursing Commission for Nursing Education Accreditation.
