Medical Assistant
The Medical Assistant program at Kellogg Community College prepares the student to enter the career of medical assisting. The program includes a rigorous curriculum of coursework, lab and clinical education experience in the patient care departments in hospitals and other healthcare facilities preparing the student for success on the national certification exam. Medical Assistants are multi-skilled professionals trained to assist with office and clinical procedures in medical facilities and outpatient centers under the direct supervision of a healthcare provider.
Nursing Assistant
Nursing Assistant Training consists of an 80.5-hour course approved by the State of Michigan, Department of Licensing and Regulatory Affairs. Students are presented with classroom, laboratory, and clinical instruction. The major emphasis is on long-term care with the integration of concepts from acute care and home health care. Classroom hours focus on theory, while laboratory hours focus on the attainment of skills that are necessary for the nursing assistant to possess. Clinical hours focus on implementing skills obtained in the laboratory and will take place in a long-term care setting.
Phlebotomy Professional
Instruction will be through lectures, activities, simulated lab, and the clinical setting. Labs include drawing blood from each other, as well as, other laboratory functions. The student will gain an understanding of the theory of laboratory procedures, as well as, a command of the skills necessary to perform accurately and efficiently in a business/hospital setting. Students will demonstrate the ability to integrate and communicate ideas and information by participating in class discussions during a routine overview of the chapter or subject matter. This course is presented as a blended learning course with in-seat, online and clinical site components.

The $2 million grant will provide the opportunity for students to complete certain required courses in Western Michigan University’s Bachelor of Science in Nursing program tuition free.

The KCC Foundation and Kellogg Community College have announced the names of this year’s 15 recipients of the Gold Key Scholarship, a scholarship available to incoming freshmen that provides $4,500 a year for two years.
