EOS North America recently made a $25,000 donation to Henry Ford College intended to provide scholarships for students pursuing degrees in STEM fields. The endowment hopes to help bring diversity to the field by reducing the financial burden for underrepresented groups.
Henry Ford College received a $25,000 donation from EOS North America to fund STEM scholarships. Some scholarships will be available immediately, and the remainder of the gift will be used to establish an endowment to be used for future scholarships. The donation from EOS North America is part of the company's commitment to encouraging diversity in STEM fields by reducing financial barriers for students in underrepresented communities.
While details of scholarships distribution have not yet been announced, school administrators are eager to put the donation to good use and are excited about how the funds will help HFC students. In a recent release from the college, HFC Assistant Director of Advancement and Government Relations Shai James-Boyd said, "It has been a pleasure working with the EOS team to create opportunities that will last a lifetime for our students. Their gift will lighten the load for students who don't need a handout, but a helping hand. I look forward to working with EOC on future student success projects."
EOS has stated that it is committed to investing in programs that will bring more diversity to STEM fields. The company is expressing that commitment through financial contributions that they hope will reduce barriers for black, indigenous, and people of color (BIPOC) students pursuing a degree in a STEM field. As EOS North America President Glynn Fletcher states, "At EOS, we are very committed to provide support to underrepresented scholars in STEM fields. On behalf of the entire EOS organization, I am delighted that we can be part of this initiative and look forward to expanding our relationship with HFC and the School of STEM."
