Butler tech student prepares for a career in IT by being the first student at the school to gain a certification as an Amazon Web Services Cloud Practitioner, an achievement that experts agree will position him to begin a lucrative career right out of high school.
At only 16 years old, Jaimin Patel is the first Butler Tech student to gain certification as a certified Amazon Web Services Cloud Practitioner. The accomplishment sets Patel up to finish high school and jump right into a high-paying profession. The demand for jobs with these skills is expected to grow over the next decade, leaving Patel and his teachers and advisers feeling positive about his future.
The average salary for someone with this certification is over $100,000 per year, but Patel doesn't intend to stop with his training yet. Patel plans to pursue the next step in certification, AWS Certified DevOps Engineer Professional, then move on to an internship upon graduation. Through his training, Patel has been able to narrow down his career goals. As he says in an article posted by Butler Tech, "I was previously interested in developing websites but this (AWS) field is really cool. I've now realized this is really what I want to do. "The certifications will allow Patel to go directly into his chosen feel without having to go to college.
Tom Newman, IT teacher at Butler Tech points out that the Information Technology programs are representative of a growing trend in education that rejects the one-size-fits-all mentality accepted for decades, in favor of a program that prepares students for a specialized career path. Newman states, "We connect students with their passion by individualizing instruction to meet the needs of our future workforce (and) AWS is one of many options for our IT students at Butler Tech." Newman also cited a study which projects a growth in IT jobs of eleven percent over the next ten years, with more than 500,000 jobs expected to be created.
