Cybersecurity Fundamentals is a one-semester certification course offered at Rhodes State College that will be offered beginning in the Fall 2021 semester, the third program to be added to its eCampus certification options.
The Cybersecurity Fundamentals certificate, obtainable through Rhodes State College, aims to fill an industry need, according to a recent news release. The course will cover subjects like troubleshooting, managing networks, hardware, and software. The Cybersecurity Fundamentals certificate joins Esports Management and Coaching and Project Management certificate programs offered through Rhodes State College's eCampus program.
Coordinator of Online Learning and K-12 Partnerships Jean Wisuri explained more about the eCampus certification programs. "Perhaps someone is exploring a new interest or a new career—the eCampus programs could be of interest. All certificates are 16 credit hours in length, which makes them financial aid eligible for those who qualify and are delivered 100% online with no need to come to campus. These are accelerated certificates so students complete all requirements in one term."
Students enrolled in Cybersecurity Fundamentals will learn about many aspects of IT, including installation and maintenance of cybersecurity systems, identifying common attacks, and threat analysis and mitigation strategies. Rhodes State College says that students will also be able to participate in activities organized through Ohio Cyber Range, used for training, testing, and competition.
The news release from the college points out other investments in the eCampus programs, including a venue that is being remodeled to host Esports gaming activities. Students participating in the Esports program receive training in team management, communication, and supporting the wellbeing of Esports athletes. The release also highlighted some of the features of the Project Management program, touting the problem solving and team management skills earned through the certification.
