A new agreement will allow students transferring from Albion College from KCC to carry more credits over and streamline the application process and graduation requirements.
A new articulation agreement between Kellogg Community College and Albion College was put into place in June. The agreement sets out a clear path for KCC students to work toward a transfer to Albion College and ensures more credits earned at KCC will transfer as well. The agreement is intended to eliminate barriers to achievement of a four-year degree and to increase diversity, according to a news release published by Kellogg Community College.
Albion College Provost Ron Mourad said in the news release that the signing of the articulation agreement will improve student outcomes and increase diversity, goals that the college has worked toward with the creation of departments such as the Institute for Public Purpose, the innovative Body & Soul Center, and the Cutler Center for Student Success.
Mourad said, "Since the beginning of the pandemic, students have experienced new challenges in their journey to degree completion. As an institution of higher learning, it is our responsibility to rise to the moment and create flexible pathways that remove barriers to academic success. Albion College is committed to a holistic model of support that allows every student to reach their potential. We are excited to build on this with the partnership of Kellogg Community College to create new opportunities for students to enroll and complete their degrees at Albion."
KCC President Dr. Adrien L. Bennings emphasized Kellogg Community College's role in readying students for the next step in their academic careers. Bennings said, "An education from Albion College gives students a diverse set of skills that will allow them to think beyond traditional classroom instruction with an inquisitive, thoughtful perspective. At Kellogg Community College, we prepare students for the next step in their educational journey by elevating learning opportunities to service-specific goals, and this partnership is in direct alignment with that vision."
