Indiana Wesleyan University establishes 21st Century Scholarship program

Incoming freshmen in 2022 at Indiana Wesleyan University may qualify for the 21st Century Scholarship, which will provide full tuition for eligible applicants.

The new 21st Century Scholarship at Indiana Wesleyan University (IWU) was announced in September and will be available to incoming freshmen starting in fall 2022. The university says in a news release that the new scholarship program is one part of a strategy to encourage more Indiana residents to earn a degree at Indiana Wesleyan. The university has a 21st Century Scholar advisor in place to help students transition to college and find academic success.

To qualify for the scholarship, incoming freshmen must be a graduate of an Indiana high school with a GPA of 3.0 or higher and qualify for a federal PELL Grant. With those criteria met, the 21st Century Scholarship will cover the remaining tuition costs for attending Indiana Wesleyan University. This cohort of students will also have access to other resources, including career development services and internship opportunities.

Director of Registration & Academic Services (RAS) and First-Year Advising, Dr. Crystal Keetch, describes the details of the program: "We currently have a 21st Century Scholar advisor who is already working with all first-year students to provide connection and information. Beginning in the fall of 2022, the 21st Century Scholar advisor will serve as the first year advisor to students in tandem with a faculty advisor. The 21st Century Scholar Advisor is in RAS to help students as they begin at IWU and navigate into and through their first year, but will also continue to serve as a support system all the way through to graduation."
