Southwest Tennessee Community College and Generation USA, provide free online training

The courses provided by Generation USA will allow residents of the Memphis metropolitan area to gain skills in digital marketing and IT.

Southwest Tennessee Community College has entered into an agreement with Generation USA that will bring free online classes to all residents of the greater Memphis area. Online training will be focused on developing the knowledge and skills needed to become a digital marketing analyst or an IT help desk technician. The program is sponsored by Citizen Verizon, which has committed to investing over $44 million over the next several years to assist Generation USA in its goal to increase access to digital skills for working aged adults. STCC will work with Generation USA to bring these opportunities to area residents.

In a recent press release, Southwest Tennessee Community College President Tracy D. Hall spoke about the development, "We are thrilled to partner with Generation USA to provide our community members with the training, support and resources they need to launch successful careers in the IT industry. Generation and Southwest share the same mission and vision for the citizens of Memphis and the Mid-South – to empower individuals to enter the workforce as skilled technicians." Participants will be able to build their technology skills to ready them for employment in the tech field.Those that complete the program will have access to apprenticeships, internships, as well as connections to full-time employment. CEO of Generation USA Sean Segal spoke more about the opportunities that the partnership will bring to Memphis, "Not only are we providing students with the necessary skills to be prepared for jobs in the digital world, we are equipping them with mentorship and social support services, while amassing a network of companies to help place graduates."
